Seniors Introduction

Chester Golf Club Senior Section was formed in 1986 to cultivate the spirit of comradeship among senior members of Chester Golf Club by joining together in golf matches and social events and to promote friendship with other senior’s golf associations in the area by an exchange of friendly but competitive fixtures. Currently it has approximately 130 members age 55 and over.

We have two distinct programmes one Summer Programme of 18 interclub matches on a home and away basis, and two in house matches against the Ladies and the Juniors.

The Inter club matches are open to all Senior Section members on a first come first served basis. Although a small number of places is reserved for first time players. Entry forms are posted on the Senior’s Notice Board.

All the venues are popular and you need to be quick in getting your name down. All games are friendly but competitive. After each match there is always a meal and a chance to cement the friendship you have made on the course. The dress code for the meal at all Home matches is Jacket and Tie; however some clubs have a smart casual code. The dress code is on the entry form so please take note when entering.

The winter programme starts in October and we have a total of 11 competitions throughout the winter including 4 Individual Stableford and 4 Team competitions (i.e. Better ball, Texas scramble etc) with a Xmas Lunch following one of the Team competitions in December.A Xmas and Easter individual knockout competitions takes place followed by a Round Robin Pairs knockout competition. At the end of the winter a Presentation Lunch takes place when the Trophies are presented

Away days take place in the Spring and Autumn with a large group of Seniors visiting another Golf Club within one hours travel from Chester
